Having debuted on M! Countdown last week, Superstar K2 contestant Kim Greem continued with her solo promotions with her debut stage on Music Bank tonight.

Back then, she went by her real name, Kim Geu Rim, but to kick-start this new phase in her life, she decided to take on a stage name to break out from the “Superstar K2″ cocoon.

Her debut track, “Nobody But You“, is very reminiscent of the folk-rock style from the late ’80s to the early ’90s. Kim Greem’s sweet, yet earthy voice adds a modern touch, while the buzzing harmonica and simple acoustic chords pay homage to the old-school style.

The song sings of a lover’s regret after she realizes that her ex was “the one” all along. She confesses that at the time, she didn’t realize what love really was – that she was ungrateful and unappreciative of what she had. It took her a long time to understand, but now, with regret weighing heavily in her voice, she says that she loves him, and that he is her only love.

It looks like the icy relations between public and cable broadcasting networks are finally beginning to thaw.

Mnet’s “Superstar K2” contestant, Kim Greem, has been confirmed as a performing act on the April 15th episode of KBS’s “Music Bank“. Previously, only Seo In Kook and Kim Bo Kyung alone were able to promote on the ‘big three’ music programs; the bitter rivalry between public and cable networks often prevented these ‘Mnet stars’ from promoting to their fullest potential.

KBS has been more forgiving than MBC and SBS in the past, as Kim Bo Kyung was the first to break the barrier in “Music Bank” with her solo appearance back in February.

“Music Bank” PD Kim Sang Ho spoke through Star News and revealed, “Our program itself does not have restrictions against certain backgrounds. As long as there is vocal talent, our door is open to anyone. We have every intention of allowing Kim Bo Kyung, Kim Greem, Huh Gak, John Park and other debuts on our stage.”

After seeing such open-mindedness from KBS, the spotlight is now being put on MBC’s “Music Core” and SBS’s “Inkigayo” to offer the same unbiased generosity.
On a much lighter note, Kim Green’s outfit has been earning much attention amongst fans and netizens alike. The singer was seen wearing a unique pattern on her shirt across her chest, leading many to wonder if it held any significant meaning.

Nexstar Entertainment revealed, “Kim Greem suggested that she use her signature for her stage outfit. After autographing her shirt, she added paint, cubics, and other accessories to complete the look.”
