The 16th episode of KBS 2TV’s “Dream High” will mark the completion of the series, and there are no plans for any special extensions.

A representative of KBS spoke with Star News on January 27th and revealed, “‘Dream High” was originally scheduled to complete its series on February 22nd, but because of the Asian Cup on January 25th, the ending has been pushed back to February 28th.”

The drama is currently enjoying viewer ratings in the upper 15%, and has been ranking first in its time slot. KBS suffered lackluster viewer ratings prior to “Dream High”, which lead many to believe that they’d go ahead and push to extend the series in response to its success. Yet representatives revealed that the cast members’ individual schedules left no choice but to end the show at the 16th episode.

Representatives further stated, “KBS and the production company discussed the issue, and decided that an extension would be out of the question. Instead, we have decided to release a special broadcast on March 1st. The special will feature a concert-style broadcast, something a bit different from the other specials.”

Fans immediately noticed a diet plan scrawled on the school’s blackboard amidst several other lunch menus for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisine.

The special ‘diet menu’ consists of salad, a boiled egg, boiled sweet potatoes, and eight baby tomatoes, all amounting to exactly 346 calories.

Fans speculated this to be the diet plan used by IU’s character in losing weight for her transformation. Although it’s certainly interesting to look at, they expressed their sorrow in ‘Pil Sook’ having to go through such a strict menu.

Actor Kim Soo Hyun recently participated in a “Dream High” press conference with his fellow castmates, and he delivered an interview that left reporters feeling like this young star was wiser than his years.

Kim Soo Hyun began with his reflections on how the drama is faring in ratings. “I’m happy the ratings are going up, but the actors and the staff are not quite satisfied yet”. He added, “I would like to see the drama do well. We will show you a youth drama overflowing with passion and fighting spirit“.
Kim continued, “Until now, I’ve only acted, but singers have to act while singing and dancing on stage. I can feel them fill the screen with energy just from their performances alone. It was hard for me to bring myself up to par with my singer co-stars, but I think I will have learned a huge lesson by the end of this project”.

Reporters then turned to the topic of his rivalry with 2PM’s Taecyeon, who plays ‘Jin Gook’. “On screen, Taecyeon and I have an interesting tension through eye contact alone. So even when we’re not shooting, I tend to keep looking at him.” Then he jokingly added, “When I turn around, I want to see him again!”

Kim was then asked who his ideal girl was out of all of his idol co-stars. Replying with much wit, he answeredSuzy in the spring, Eun Jung in the summer, IU in the fall, and Taecyeon in the winter.”

On January 25th, the cast of “Dream High” attended a press conference for their show, which was held on the actual film set of the drama. During the interview, 2PM’s Wooyoung shared his thoughts on his debut as an actor.

Wooyoung began by talking about how he’s learning the new craft. “I’m still really nervous right now. When reviewing the monitor, I learn a lot from Taecyeon and Soohyun-hyung. I’m taking part in this drama with the stance of an actor and am truly learning a lot from those around me by ‘bothering’ them for tips (laughter).”

He continued, “I’m learning in a fun way, so I hope viewers look forward to my role as ‘Jason.’”
When asked to choose a scene he liked or disliked, Wooyoung replied,”My favorite scene was the karaoke scene [with IU].

He continued, “A scene I didn’t particularly like was when I asked ‘Pil Sook’ whether she filed to drop out or not. I think I lacked confidence in that scene, especially since ‘Jason’ is a very confident and charming character overall. I felt like I froze because it was my first time, so those are aspects I will be working on.”

At the mention of his “Milky” love line with IU, he explained, “I’m genuinely thankful towards the viewers for giving their interest and support towards the ‘Pil Sook’ and ‘Jason’ love line. IU helps me greatly, as I feel that her character is great at accepting ‘Jason.’ I hope that their love line continues in a cute and beautiful manner in the future.”

Wooyoung concluded, “Despite the cold weather and her poor condition, she works hard, so I’m proud. Since my castmates are my friends and we’re all heading towards our dreams, there is some competition, but I’m able to work harder because of that. Even if we don’t receive great viewer ratings, I’d still like to thank everyone. I’ll be working harder with better effort.”

《Dream High》

KBS 2TV’s “Dream High” held a press conference on January 25th, and miss A’s Suzy was asked about whether she felt troubled by the negative criticisms of her acting skills.
Considering how “Dream High” is her debut acting gig, many were concerned about whether Suzy was capable of playing a lead role. Responding to the reporter’s question, Suzy said, “There’s a lot of criticism surrounding my acting, but I felt it was definitely because it was my first time. I was greatly disappointed in myself for not being able to express Hyemi’s desperation to pass the auditions for Girin Arts High School.”

She continued, “I feel that it’s better to show improved acting, so I try not to pay attention to the ‘controversies’. I’ll work hard to make sure that I become the perfect ‘Go Hyemi’ so that viewers won’t have to think those things anymore.”

Suzy then compared herself to her character by stating, “My personality is actually quite different from Go Hyemi’s. I’m not at all that crabby so it was difficult to act that way, but I’m slowly starting to get used to it.”

The reporters then started to have a little fun, as they asked Suzy on who suited ‘Go Hyemi’ better, Taecyeon and Kim Soo Hyun. Suzy answered, “To ‘Jin Guk,’ ‘Hyemi’ is a girl he wants to hug, while to ‘Sam Dong,’ ‘Hyemi’ is a girl he can never have.”

She was then asked to choose a character who would survive in the real entertainment industry. “Yoon Baek Hee,” she declared. “Since she’s so determined to do well, I think she’ll succeed even in real life.”

Suzy concluded her part of the interview by stating, “I’m thankful that the viewer ratings came out as well as the staff members and cast have been working hard for. I’ll work hard to show better images of myself.”

Meanwhile, the drama’s latest episode recorded 15.9% in viewer ratings, ranking in first place for its time slot.
