After becoming embroiled in a gambling controversy five months ago, Shin Jung Hwan has finally returned to Korea through Gimpo Airport at 11:09 AM KST on January 19th.

It’s been exactly 146 days since he last left for the Philippines on August 27th, 2010, and his arrival was greeted by reporters who had been waiting on standby.

Standing in front of the reporters for a full minute, the star ignored questions about his controversy, and could only repeat his apologies as he delivered a deep bow. He then rushed out of the airport to answer his summons to the Seoul Provincial Police Agency.

According to investigators, should it be confirmed that he gambled overseas, he’ll be jailed for a minimum of three years with a $20,000 USD bail.

After spending nearly five months abroad, Shin Jung Hwan is finally returning to Korea to address his gambling controversy.

His agency, IS Entermedia Group, revealed on January 19th, “Shin Jung Hwan will be leaving from Tokyo at 8:30 AM on January 19th, and will be arriving at the Gimpo Airport at 11 AM.”
They continued, “He’ll be heading for the Seoul Provincial Police Agency immediately upon his arrival, and will comply with all investigation orders. Whatever decision is made, he will accept with humility.”

Multiple media outlets claimed that Shin Jung Hwan would return to Korea on various dates, and his agency took the opportunity to clarify any misunderstandings.”His date of return was reported by the press when our agency’s lawyers were discussing his case with the Seoul Police. Shin Jung Hwan himself had nothing to do with it. We would like to apologize for not announcing a clear date of return beforehand.”

南韓當紅綜藝節目主持人申正煥，驚爆在菲律賓豪賭輸掉2億韓元（約543萬元台幣），因無法支付賭金，被扣押護照，並軟禁在飯店內。他手上目前共有13個綜藝節目，上周日缺席錄影工作，下周節目就要開天窗。他周薪高達235萬元台幣，卻不自愛，多次鬧出賭博醜聞重創形象與前程。
長相不起眼的申正煥，靠著自虧、耍娘的搞笑絕招大受歡迎，幾乎每天都能在南韓電視上看到他。台灣曾播出他固定參與的《實戰大綜藝》，節目中老被漂亮女星打槍的他，私下對美女沒興趣，卻沉迷賭博。


多次賭博被逮 年收億元難填無底洞
過去「神話」申彗星、李成真、李秉憲及權相佑等南韓男星，都曾因涉賭損害形象。南韓媒體昨報導，申正煥因積欠543萬元台幣賭金，遭賭場扣留護照，滯留菲律賓宿霧13天，無法出境。

近年他多次賭博被逮，每次出手都是百萬元台幣起跳；他每周可進帳235萬元台幣，年收入超過1億元台幣，卻付不出5百多萬元賭金，令人意外。

業界人士指出，他爛賭成癮，賺的恐怕不及輸的多。他的經紀公司起初推說「不清楚他的私事」，昨又否認他因賭博留在菲律賓，而是「得了重感冒在菲律賓住院中」，說詞反覆啟人疑竇。
