BigBang成員GD&TOP15日上午10時公布了兩人小團體的新曲《High High》和《Oh Yeah》。

GD&TOP將於24日正式發行新專輯，本次公開的《High High》是一首融合了電音和HIPHOP的歌曲，給人以一種置身於夜店的感覺。和音源一同公開的MV將歌曲感覺完全流露，展現了夜店派對的真實一面。

而《Oh Yeah》則和2NE1的樸春合作，是一首聽了讓完會不時想起中毒性超強的歌曲。GD&TOP兩人組團的消息一出即刻引起眾人的關心，特別是14日在YOUTUBE上向全世界範圍公開播出的《GD & TOP World Premere》再一次讓人感受到他們的超人氣。當天有近100名來自國內外的記者到場參加，現場為歐亞美洲的粉絲實時轉播。

YG娛樂公司稱：「GD&TOP的聯合專輯將會向眾人展示既不是BigBang整體也不是個人的風格的另一面，是一種全新的魅力。不僅音樂華麗且走在潮流前端的兩人將不會令大家失望」。明年2月1日，2年未在韓國國內宣傳的BigBang將正式回歸歌壇。而GD&TOP將於19日參加《人氣歌謠》正式展開宣傳活動。

After their unique “Worldwide Premiere” via YouTube, G-Dragon and T.O.P (aka ‘GD&TOP‘) finally unveiled their music video for “High High” today.

Filmed from their exclusive “High High” club party, which was packed to the walls with guests (including some from the YG Family), the boys delivered a fun video full of flash and energy. It looks like they kicked off their sub-unit promotions with a definite bang.




GD&TOP introduce their debut album at Youtube “World Premiere”

Big Bang’s G-Dragon and T.O.P revealed their feelings on debuting as a unit group during the “World Premier” of their first album, held at M-PUB on December 14th. The premiere was broadcasted live through YouTube, allowing fans all over the world to get a first look at their debut work.

The duo personally introduced the tracks for their album, some including “Baby Good Night,” “Oh Mom,” “Nightmare,” “Today,” and “What Do You Want Me to Do?”, along with a digital preview of their triple title tracks, “Oh Yeah,” “Bbeokigayo,” and “High High.”

Much attention was put on the release of their music video for “High High,” as it was revealed to be filmed at a club in Itaewon. It was also produced by Big Bang’s Taeyang and Teddy, and features surprise appearances by other YG Entertainment artists.

Unfortunately, the video skipped a bit during its play, causing G-Dragon to ask for the viewers’ understanding by commenting in jest, “Whenever (errors) like this happen, they say that your album will go jackpot. Maybe it really will.”



Regarding the background of the album’s production, T.O.P revealed, “We decided to release this album as a special present for the fans that have waited for us. I had a lot of time on my hands after I finished my movie and did a lot of producing with G-Dragon.”

G-Dragon continued, “Whenever I’m preparing a new album for Big Bang, I always make sure to try a variety of member combinations. Out of everything, T.O.P and I had the most productions, which is what led to this album. Now that it’s about to be released, the remaining trio gave us a lot of pressure by saying, ‘Hyungs, you guys have to go out and do your best before Big Bang goes out as whole.’”

T.O.P added to G-Dragon’s comments, “They did give us a lot of pressure by asking us to do well, but they also gave us a lot of support as well.”


Regarding their decision on a triple track promotion, G-Dragon expressed, “We just wanted to let everyone hear as many songs of ours as possible in a short amount of time. With Big Bang’s comeback album, we’ll show everyone all five us promoting together.”

MC Kim Sung Joo continued by bringing up a question related to their song ‘Bbeokigayo,’ asking, “Comparing yourself to others, what do you think is your charm?”

G-Dragon answered, “I’m not as handsome as T.O.P hyung, but I think I have a good personality.” T.O.P answered with a smile, “I think my ear is more handsome than G-Dragon’s ears,” and went on to give reporters a peek of his ear.



The duo will be releasing a digital single including “High High” and “Oh Yeah” on December 15th followed by their full album on the 24th. They will also be debuting through SBS’s “Inkigayo” on the 19th.

Representatives of YG Entertainment stated, “G-Dragon and T.O.P are rappers that grew up together dreaming of rap music even before the creation of Big Bang. Their unit album will feature music that is closer to hip hop and rap, than previous songs with Big Bang.”


A look back at GD&TOP’s YouTube “World Premiere” and preview of tracks

The YouTube “World Premiere” for GD&TOP’s collaboration album took place at the M-Pub in Seoul on December 14th, and it was streamed live through Big Bang’s official YouTube channel.

The live stream saw GD&TOP deliver personal introductions for a few of their songs, and they also debuted their “High High“ music video to fans around the world. Currently, there’s poor quality releases of the MV that was captured from the stream out there, but we’ll refrain from posting until the official MV is released tomorrow morning.

Most, if not all, experienced a stream so interrupted by lag that it would literally buffer every 5-10 seconds. Yet for the devoted VIPs, it was a small price to pay in exchange for experiencing the premiere in real time.

We managed to record some of the brief descriptions behind most of the songs, as explained on the stream:

“A song that kicks off GD&TOP’s album and that shows that their musical roots are hip-hop. GD’s rap wittily introduces each song in the album.”

<”Oh Yeah“>

“‘Oh Yeah’ accentuates GD&TOP’s opposite styles of making the sound. The refrain sung by 2NE1’s Park Bom makes people want to chant.”

<”Baby Good Night“>

“This is a song in which the duo crosses between rapping, and singing a melody with the acoustic guitar playing in the background. T.O.P’s smooth rap flow and GD’s vocal is like a beautiful instrument creating sexy beats.”

<”Oh Mom“>

“An unusual rock track for T.O.P the rapper. Based on a true story about a friend of his, the song tells the inside troubles of a person. With a heavy rock sound, T.O.P as a vocalist sings the mind of a lonely and restless boy.”

<”Obsession” (악몽)>

“GD’s unique writing method is the highlight of the song. The music begins calmly, and then becomes intense in an instant. It creates the atmosphere of having a nightmare and running in the empty sky.”

“A BIG BANG-styled piece with the piano performance, the mix of electronica based in house, and hip-hop and the intense refrain. The song presents the joy of freedom and the longing mind of a person who wants to be free.”

December 14th has finally arrived, a day long awaited for by many Big Bang fans as the GD&TOP unit hold their ”World Premiere” via YouTube later on today.

To build up additional hype for the event, the YG-Life blog updated their page with the following concept images. Sexy, smooth, and delivering that charismatic style unique to Big Bang members, the boys look smokin’ fine in these photos.
