Producer of “Athena” OST laments Taeyeon's ‘idol’ status

Composer Ahn Young Min had the highest praise for SNSD's leader Taeyeon after they collaborated on “I Love You“ for the “Athena” OST.
Reflecting on his personal homepage a few days ago, the composer wrote, “It’s my second time collaborating with Taeyeon. With ‘Like a Star‘ we worked together for the lyrics, but this time we’ll be handling composition, lyrics, and the arrangement.”
Ahn went on to say, “I was so shocked by Taeyeon’s singing ability. It’s a mature song so I was worried, but she made tears fall down my face. Barely an hour into production had passed, and I remember clapping my hands.”
“It felt regrettable just then that this voice and emotion could be covered up by the title of ‘idol’.”

After months of anticipation and teaser photos, the “IRIS” spin-off drama “Athena: Goddess of War” finally aired its pilot episode on December 13th. Considering the smashing success of its predecessor, it’s unsurprising that it raked in impressive viewer ratings on its debut night.
According to AGB Nielsen Media Research, Athena achieved a killer 22.8% through SBS. In comparison, its competing dramas – KBS2TV’s “Mary Stayed Out All Night” and MBC’s “Queen of Reversals” – registered ratings of 8.4% and 14.5%, respectively.
Athena’s ratings are particularly impressive since it’s difficult for dramas these days to go past the 20% mark after the first episode and maintain their viewers’ interest.

A MV teaser for Brown Eyed Soul’s track, titled “Put It Back (내려놔요)” was released. The video teaser is in the typical OST MV mold and includes scenes from Athena. Check it out below.

We revealed earlier that ballad singer, Park Hyo Shin, would be singing the OST song for upcoming blockbuster spy drama, Athena, starring Jung Woo Sung and Soo Ae.
Having revealed the teaser for his OST song, I Love You, last week, the full MV has finally been released today. The MV focuses mainly on filming scenes of the main characters, played by Jung Woo Sung and Soo Ae, and gives fans an early sneak peek of the overall drama.
