Singer/songwriter aiko’s new song, “Home“, has been chosen as the theme song for upcoming movie, “Hankyu Densha Katamichi 15 fun no Kiseki.”

This movie is based on the popular novel “Hankyu Densha“, written by Arikawa Hiro, and the plot revolves around a group of stories that focus on the lives of passengers on a specific train. The cast members are Nakatani Miki, Toda Erika, Tanimura Mitsuki, Katsuji Ryo, Tamayama Tetsuji, Ashida Mana, and more.

aiko commented about singing for the movie, “I was on the Hankyu Train every day until I moved to Tokyo, so I’m really really happy to be able to sing the theme song for the movie! I even cried watching the trailer since I have extremely strong feelings toward the Hankyu Train.

The producer of the film, Shigematsu Keiichi, confessed that he wanted an artist who was from the Kansai area to sing the theme song, and he was specifically demanding that aiko sing it. The movie is officially scheduled to be released on April 29th, but it will be debuted on April 23rd only in the Kansai area.

It has not been decided if “Home” would be physically released or not, so fans will have to wait for that news. On the upside, it was announced that aiko will be holding a nation hall tour, called “Love Like Pop Volume 14“, starting on April 29th, and she will make the rounds at 17 locations and 26 stages in 3 months. The tickets will be on sale starting on March 27th.

aiko’s first ever compilation albums will hit stores on February 23rd, but it looks like it won’t be entirely comprised of old material!

The popular singer-songwriter announced on the 4th that she’ll be including a new song named “Radio” on the first press of both “Matome I” and “Matome II”. The backstory behind the song is that aiko was an avid radio listener ever since her student days, and she wrote the song exclusively for her new ‘best-of’ albums.

The limited edition of “Matome I” will come housed in a special box and contains a special colored disc tray, a limited edition booklet, and an exclusive disc named “aiko no All Night Nippon CD vol. 1″. The exclusive disc is a compilation of aiko’s appearances on the radio show, “All Night Nippon“. Meanwhile, the limited edition of “Matome II” will feature the same extras, but with the second part to the “All Night Nippon” set.

To wrap up her announcement, aiko also revealed that she’ll be holding a special live radio event titled “aiko no All Night Nippon” the night before the album hits stores. It’ll be a nice tie-in to the ‘radio’ theme her new song and special discs have been priming towards.
