It’s been announced that the special charity countdown event for the “3rd Okinawa International Film Festival” has gathered a total of 1.93 million Yen for disaster aid!

The ‘Okinawa Film Festival’ is being held at the Okinawa Convention Center in the city of Ginowan, and at the Sakura-Zaka theater in Naha, the capital of Okinawa. Starting from March 18th, several comedians have helped collect funds for the victims of the earthquake and tsunamis at the Sakura-Zaka theatre. In just four days, they’ve managed to gather a total of 1.93 million Yen!

This film festival was created in 2009, and in 2010, it attracted around 380,000 people. This year, the organizers hope that even more people will come and watch some of the films being screened at the event. Furthermore, they hope to gather even more funds for the disaster relief throughout the festival, which will all be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society.

第3屆沖繩電影節昨晚熱鬧開幕，往年的門票和周邊商品收入都用於補貼影展，今年則連同得獎作品獎金全數捐出作為東日本賑災基金；為了賑災，影展盡力省錢，每年煙火盛典與華麗舞蹈表演取消，300公尺的紅地毯出席藝人以公益T恤取代華麗禮服，接送禮車也以計程車代替，場面少了奢華卻不失隆重。

在主持人佐藤麻衣、今田耕司、木佐彩子的帶領下，全員默哀一分鐘，超過200位出席藝人都穿上「我們一定也有可以盡一分心力的地方」字樣的賑災T恤；台灣吉本興業的藝人郭葦昀TORO、「當愛來的時候」女主角李亦捷、黃泰安與開幕主持人佐藤麻衣都自己化妝，希望把預算省給其他參展電影的來賓。

首度入圍國際電影節競賽片的國片「雞排英雄」，導演葉天倫與所屬的青睞影視將捐出80萬日圓(約台幣29萬)，影展還未開始，就已募得善款192萬日圓(約台幣70萬)。
