On January 22nd. superpower idol group AKB48 is planning to release nationwide a documentary titled, “DOCUMENTARY of AKB48 to be continued 10 Nengo, Shoujotachi wa Ima no Jibun ni Nani wo Omou no Darou?”

The executive producer in charge of the film will be Iwai Shunji, who also directed of ABK48’s February single’s music video, “Sakura no Shiori.” The director worked specially with Iwai on the project and although he is still new in the field, he did direct Sasaki Nozomi’s film “Tenshi no Koi” last year.

The documentary will closely follow the recent senbatsu selection tournament where the members played rock-paper-scissors to decide the vocal lineup, and also their trips overseas. All throughout the movie, fans will be able to see behind the scenes footage from concerts and television events which will give a whole different view of the members.

AKB48 has already put up a video clip from the documentary to tease fans on their official YouTube. It shows small segments of what can be expected from the behind the scenes footage, complete with the emotional members as they train and travel.

To help excite fans for the 2011 release, a special site has been created for the documentary. Every day until the January 22nd release date the site will post a new random image from the movie. Fans should definitely keep checking back to the site to see what new pictures have been shared.
