This is the final original studio album of the "EMI" period to be remastered and features the Mark IV line-up featuring David Coverdale, Jon Lord, Ian Paice, Glenn Hughes and Tommy Bolin. The CD features the original album remastered on CD 1 and the whole album remixed by Kevin Shirley (Iron Maiden production supremo) on CD 2 along with 2 previously unreleased tracks.

When Ritchie Blackmore departed Deep Purple in the mid-'70s and formed Rainbow (which featured Ronnie James Dio), his replacement was Tommy Bolin. To be sure, Blackmore was a darn tough act to follow, but Bolin proved himself to be a fine guitarist in his own right on Come Taste the Band, his first album with Deep Purple. But unfortunately, Bolin didn't have exceptional material to work with -- decent and likable, but hardly exceptional. While sweaty yet melodic cuts like "Dealer," "Lady Luck," and "You Keep on Moving" are far from bad, nothing here is in a class with "Smoke on the Water" or "Highway Star." Deep Purple's more hardcore devotees will want this album, though it's far from the best representation of their '70s work. ~ Alex Henderson

於1968年在英國組成的深紫色合唱團Deep Purple，和同樣來自英倫的搖滾新星披頭四The Beatles、齊柏林飛船Led Zeppelin、庭中鳥The Yardbirds...等，當初這幾支英倫大軍，成功地逆勢攻下美國樂壇，同步傲視大西洋的兩端。若要談及重金屬樂風，深紫色合唱團Deep Purple、齊柏林飛船Led Zeppelin、黑色安息日Black Sabbath，這三組傳奇人馬，可說是最具代表性的樂團！成軍超過40年的深紫色合唱團Deep Purple，當初是由創始領導者Richie Blackmore協同Screaming Lord Sutch's的鍵盤手Jon Lord合組Roundsbout，陸續加入主唱Rod Evans、貝斯手Nick Simper與鼓手Ian Paice等人所創立，之後便以「深紫色合唱團Deep Purple」的名號，在全球累積超越上億張專輯銷量神話，以及〈Smoke On The Water〉、〈Highway Star〉與〈Child In Time〉..等搖滾國歌。

1968年成軍的Deep Purple團員素質之強，堪稱當時搖滾樂壇之最。但是在這30年間的團員轉換，如吉他手Richie Blackmore與主唱Ian Gillan的離團／再歸隊、吉他手Joe Satriani的短暫加入等等，也每每在樂壇引發軒然大波。直到1995年，Fusion Rock吉他好手Steve Morse接替Joe Satrani加入該團，紛擾的團員陣容似乎才告塵埃落定。其餘四名團員分別為精通藍調及古典的吉他手Richie Blackmore、音域寬廣質地飽滿的主唱Ian Gillan、精於譜曲彈奏的貝斯手Roger Glover，以及30年未曾變動的鍵盤手與鼓手，富涵音樂素養兼備純熟技巧的Jon Lord及精通爵士及搖滾的重量級鼓手Ian Paice。如此人人均可獨當一面的堅強陣容，僅能以「一時之選」形容之。

這張在1975年10月首次發行、Deep Purple的第十張錄音室大作，發行後隨即攻佔全英排行Top 19與全美Top 43。而為了紀念這張專輯發行35週年，在【35週年全新錄製2CD】中，CD1不但採全新錄製，收錄原專輯所有曲目，並且再加收〈You Keep On Moving〉的單曲版本；而CD2，則是邀來堪稱Iron Maiden幕後操盤手的Kevin Shirley掌舵，炮製出12首全新混音佳作，其中還包含兩首先前未發行的珍稀作品。絕對是核心樂迷不可錯過的經典收藏。
