Paul McCartney Rejects EMI, Takes Catalog To Indie

(Updated) It was not the news that a struggling EMI wanted to hear. Yesterday Sir Paul McCarthey revealed that he'd re-release his post-Beatle catalog through indie Concord Music Group. EMI had previously handled almost his 2 dozen albums of McCartney solo and fronting Wings under an exclusive license.
The former Beatle worked with Concord on a 2007 album and a 2009 CD/DVD hybrid "Good Evening New York City." "Since the release of 'Memory Almost Full' in 2007 I've had a good working relationship with Concord and enjoyed our mutual love of music," McCartney said in a statement.

Transfer of Verve 96K masters was done using a combination of the best new and vintage equipment available. The carefully chosen original analog masters were played back on vintage Studer 820 tape machines. These machines provide the most stable transport for handling these priceless analog tapes. The analog masters were converted to the digital domain using classic DCS 972 and Lavry analog to digital converters and recorded directly onto a SoundBlade Workstation with minimal processing in order to allow the music to be formatted for digital distribution. The shortest signal path and highest quality cabling were used to prevent any signal loss and additional noise from being introduced into the transfer. The entire digital process was driven with the Antelope Audio Atomic Clock, the industry leader in digital clocking technology. iLike Founders Leave MySpace Executive Team

The founders of social music service iLike, which MySpace acquired last year,are leaving the company.'s executive team. Hadi Partovi will depart MySpace completely and his brother Ali will now work only in an advisory capacity.

According to comScore March data, Facebook traffic now makes up 41% of social traffic. MySpace ranks second at 24%. Gmail (which I don't consider a part of the social landscape) grabbed 15% and Twitter is at 8%. That's quite a change from 2009 ahen MySpace was in the lead with 38% of site visits over Facebook at 33%.

中國文化部開展整治違規網路音樂網站行動

新華網北京4月20日電（記者周瑋）針對部分網路音樂網站未經許可或備案擅自從事網路音樂活動、少數網站傳播違法違規網路音樂產品等問題，中國文化部文化市場司日前下發《關於規範網路音樂市場秩序、整治網路音樂網站違規行為的通告》和《關於查處第八批違法違規網路文化產品經營活動的通知》，部署開展規範網路音樂市場秩序、整治違規網路音樂網站行動。
按照《互聯網文化管理暫行規定》，文化部對從事網路音樂經營性活動的單位實行許可制度，對從事網路音樂非經營性活動的單位實行備案制度。此次列入“通告”的沒有獲得經營許可資質或沒有備案的音樂網站有100餘家，文化部要求，在“通告”下發之日起60日內，這些網站要按照規定的要求，到相關文化行政部門進行許可申請或備案登記。對未列入此次名單的其他未經許可或備案擅自提供網路音樂產品或服務的網站，也要參照規定，及時辦理許可或備案手續。對逾期未進行許可申請或備案登記的網路音樂單位，文化部將聯合相關部門依法予以查處。
與此同時，文化部再次部署對“粗口歌”等違法網路文化產品及其經營活動進行查處，這也是近年來文化部第八次部署類似工作。查處的重點物件是提供“粗口歌”的網路音樂網站、無證經營的網路音樂網站和網路遊戲網站。其中，“嗨嗨舞曲”“深港ＤＪ舞曲”等10家網路音樂網站提供“粗口歌”等含有禁止內容的網路音樂產品，內容低俗、格調低下，社會影響惡劣；“阿怪音樂網”“中華好歌網”等１９家網路音樂網站和“幻想三國”“英雄之城”等７家網路遊戲網站，擅自從事經營性互聯網文化活動，擅自進口網路文化產品，嚴重擾亂網路文化市場秩序。文化部要求各地文化行政部門或文化市場綜合執法機構積極會同通信管理等部門，落實對違法單位的行政處罰。
文化部指出，規範網路音樂市場秩序、整治網路音樂網站違規行為是維護網路音樂企業和消費者合法權益、鼓勵優秀作品的創作和傳播、促進網路音樂市場健康繁榮發展的具體舉措。網路音樂市場整治工作要最大限度壓縮違法違規網路音樂網站的生存空間，為依法經營的網路音樂單位和國產原創網路音樂產品提供健康、有序、良性競爭的市場環境。

iLike Founders Leave MySpace Executive Team

The course change for these two popular executives well versed in social music comes at a bad time for MySpace. The social networker is working to stop ongoing traffic loss to Facebook and Twitter, and the Partovi brothers were expected to play a major role in any transformation. MySpace still controls ILike's tech platform and has benefited from its deal with Google search. iLike cofounder Nat Brown also remains at MySpace as head of Mobile.
When asked for comment on the departure, MySpace said in a statement:
"MySpace SVP of Technology Hadi Partovi is stepping down to pursue other opportunities. In addition to continuing his work as an advisor and angel investor to various startups, he will be following his passion for education by working directly with technology focused non-profits. 與此同時，文化部再次部署對“粗口歌”等違法網路文化產品及其經營活動進行查處，這也是近年來文化部第八次部署類似工作。查處的重點物件是提供“粗口歌”的網路音樂網站、無證經營的網路音樂網站和網路遊戲網站。其中，“嗨嗨舞曲”“深港ＤＪ舞曲”等10家網路音樂網站提供“粗口歌”等含有禁止內容的網路音樂產品，內容低俗、格調低下，社會影響惡劣；“阿怪音樂網”“中華好歌網”等１９家網路音樂網站和“幻想三國”“英雄之城”等７家網路遊戲網站，擅自從事經營性互聯網文化活動，擅自進口網路文化產品，嚴重擾亂網路文化市場秩序。文化部要求各地文化行政部門或文化市場綜合執法機構積極會同通信管理等部門，落實對違法單位的行政處罰。
文化部指出，規範網路音樂市場秩序、整治網路音樂網站違規行為是維護網路音樂企業和消費者合法權益、鼓勵優秀作品的創作和傳播、促進網路音樂市場健康繁榮發展的具體舉措。網路音樂市場整治工作要最大限度壓縮違法違規網路音樂網站的生存空間，為依法經營的網路音樂單位和國產原創網路音樂產品提供健康、有序、良性競爭的市場環境。
