Dubbed the next FTIsland, Korean band CNBLUE debuted first in Japan last year, and now they're finally releasing their Korean debut mini-album. The rock band is already well known in Korea due to the popularity of guitarist and vocalist 정용화鄭龍華Jung Yong Hwa,(2009 SBS原來是美男 飾姜新禹--A.N.JELL成員 吉他手）) who shot to fame playing Kang Shin Woo in the Korean drama You're Beautiful. With an already famous frontman and three other members who are equally young, handsome, and talented, it's no wonder that CNBLUE is expected to be the next big thing in Korea. Their first Korean mini-album Bluetory comes with five mellow rock ballads and alternative rock numbers including the first plug "I'm a Loner" by hitmakers Kim Do Hoon and Lee Sang Ho, and the Korean version of Now or Never from their Japan mini-album. 
A.N.JELLのヨンファことチョン・ヨンファ(vo,rap,g)の本来のバンドCNBLUEの韓国デビュー盤。他のメンバーはイ・ジョンシン(b,vo)、イ・ジョンヒョン(ハングル違い:g,vo)、カン・ミニョク(ds)。もちろん所属はホンギくんらと同じFNC。FTの場合にもいわれてきたことだが、日本での活動の結果、極めて肯定的な意味での、70年代的グループ・サウンズ(ジャ○ーズの原点にあるような)を血肉化しているようなところがあり、それに若年にしていまだ薄まることのない韓国的演歌叙情を交錯させた上で、洋学的なロックの様式美の中に熔けませるといった一種の錬金術が試みられており、特に英語詞になる部分(短いリフレインなど)は、フォーク的な後ろ向き感…というよりもパンカビリー的な揮発度の高さすら感じさせ、21世紀におけるR&Bジャンル以外での韓国的「コブシ」の聴かせ(効かせ)方の試金石かつ里程標ともなりうる予感。もちろん現時点ではキム・ドフンを始めとした作家陣の力量に多くを負っているとはいえ、ビジュアル系でもあることを逆手にとり「実力は必ずしも正攻法で測ってもらう必要はない」という切り返し技によって、かつてのそれとはまったく別の切り口ながら90年代に確立された(韓国人にとっては極めて)ダンサブルな“朝鮮パンク”に匹敵しうる内需に特化したロック・サウンドを開発していける可能性も…。とはいってもマネージャーの中の人には慎重に行動していただきたいところだが、いずれにしても内需が極まればそれはその国の特産品となるわけで、前述のような経緯からも隣国人にとってもカラオケ的なレベルでも訴求力が高そうである。
CNBLUE to perform in a street concert

Plagued by controversy one after another ever since their debut, rookie group CNBLUE will take to the streets once again to prove that their success was no fluke.
CNBLUE will be performing on February 28th at COEX Fountain Square at 7pm in a street concert.
CNBLUE who rose to prominence with their debut single, I’m A Loner are determined to put on a thrilling show for their fans through this street concert and stamp home the point that they are definitely not a fake band riding on controversy to get famous. The members were directly involved from planning to execution of the street concert and it will be a 100% live performance.
A representative expressed,
“CNBLUE has been besieged by plagiarism allegations regarding their debut hit song but they are determined to win the respect and acknowledgement from everyone by performing on the streets.”
We wish them success and hope that they will still have enough in the tank after Inkigayo on the same day.
