第53屆亞太影展今晚頒獎，華語影片表現亮眼，台灣電影拿下最佳導演、最佳女主角等5項大獎，成為今年大贏家，香港由金馬影帝張家輝拿最佳影帝等2個獎項，新加坡也拿下1獎。
今年亞太影展頒獎典禮首度移師南台灣，在高雄縣義守大學多功能場館舉行。今年共有16國58部片參展，角逐15個獎項。
第53屆亞太影帝由剛拿下金馬影帝的香港演員張家輝獲得，影后是台灣張榕容，最佳導演由台灣導演戴立忍拿下，最佳影片則是來自雅加達的天虹戰隊小學（The rainbow troops）。
現場嘉賓雲集，包括新聞局長蘇俊賓、高雄縣長楊秋興，以及亞太影展大使楊謹華、港星「香帥」鄭少秋、金馬新科影帝張家輝、日本演員武田真治，電影「貧民百萬富翁」印度童星、以及韓國偶像團體SuperJunior-M等。第53屆評審團由7人組成，主席由台灣資深影評劉立行（Liu Li-Hsing）擔任，評審包括法國里昂亞洲電影節創辦人希權雷（Jean-Pierre Gimenez）、韓國釜山影展創辦人金智奭（Kim Ji-Soek）等。
今年亞太影展特別在7名國際評審中，設立1名素人評審，由現年49歲台灣資深藝人周思潔出任，共同參與評審投票。
本屆亞太影展共58部片參展，包括台北12部、東京4部、香港3部、新加坡5部、澳門1部、韓國3部、伊朗6部、印尼6部、泰國1部、馬來西亞4部、菲律賓1部、河內5部、印度5部、澳大利亞2部。

最佳女配角：印尼／維亞瓦蒂，包著頭巾的婦女（Widyawati Sophiaan，Woman With A Turban）。
最佳電影音樂：印尼／妓女與總統（Jamila and The President）。
最佳音效：越南／漂泊（A drift）。
最佳短片：台北／跳格子（Hopscotch）。
最佳男配角：新加坡／錢不夠用2，程旭輝（Money no Enough II）。
最佳藝術指導：新德里／後現代激情（Dev D）。
最佳電影劇本：香港／意外（Accident）。
亞太電影傑出成就獎：香港／吳宇森（John Woo）。
亞太影展特別貢獻獎：印尼／拉姆（Raam Punjabi）。
最佳影片：雅加達／天虹戰隊小學（The rainbow troops）。
最佳女主角：台北／陽陽，張榕容（Sandrine Pinna, Yang Yang）。

Khan Kluay II is set after the victory of Ayutthaya against the invasion of the powerful Burmese Empire when Khan Kluay is appointed as King Naresuan's royal elephant and services the king in many battles. But it isn't the end of the war yet when the Burmese Empire determinedly declares more battle. Before Ayutthaya's troop could set the journey to the battlefield, some Burmese soldiers creeping up to Ayutthaya to capture people as their captives, they even kidnap Khan Kluay's wife and children, ChabaKaew, Ton-or and Korkaew. To save his family from danger, Khan Kluay escapes from Ayutthaya to encounter his new adventure and single battle in the land of enemy. This is the biggest mission for Khan Kluay to challenge.
