Elisapie Qupanuaq Isaac is originally from Salluit, Nunavik. Music and communications have always been a part of her life, from gospel/church music to teenage rock band, being a radio host for Taqramiut Nipingit Inc. to pursuing education in communications in Montreal, making documentaries about circumpolar regions to her first directed NFB short film "Sila Piqujippat" (If The Weather Permits). In 2004, she teamed up with Alain Auger to form the duo TAIMA, and won the following year the JUNO Awards Aboriginal Album of the Year.

Elisapie has been working on a new album solo for the last three years. She recently presented some demos in Purvinirtuq, Nunavik, and in Montreal. Songs will be in Inuktitut, English, including one in French written by Richard Desjardins (see Richard Desjardins écrit pour Élisapie Isaac). Initial critics in Québec are very positive. This solo album will be more pop, soft rock, with some disco and reggae flirting. The release is scheduled for September 22, 2009.
