More About Chiu Yi's Astroturf (12/16/2008)
(Taipei Times)
A supporter of former president Chen Shui-bian (陳水扁) yesterday pulled off KMT Legislator Chiu Yi’s (邱毅) hairpiece at the Control Yuan as the lawmaker was initiating impeachment proceedings against Judge Chou Chan-chun (周占春) for his decision to release Chen following his indictment on Friday.
Huang Yung-tien (黃永田) was then taken by police to Zhongzheng First Police District for questioning and was sent by police to the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office for further questioning three hours later.
Tsai Chin-lung (蔡金龍), a police officer, was quoted by the Central News Agency as saying that Huang denied he intended to pull Chiu’s hairpiece off and said it fell off because of the jostling of the crowd.

The wife of Huang Yung-tien said that they were in Taipei visiting friends. On the way past the Control Yuan, they were looking for a restroom when they spotted their "idol" Chiu Yi. Therefore, they went up to speak to their idol. But they were surrounded by a bunch of police and some jostling occurred during which Chiu Yi's hairpiece came off. They did not anticipate this outcome, and it was unintentional.
Here is Huang Yung-tien being interviewed after being released on a bail of NT$15,000. He says that it was accidental, and he blamed Chiu Yi for not telling him about the hairpiece beforehand (so that he would not grab it).
