76年成立，96年解散的倫敦Siouxsie & the Banshees有整整20年的音樂歷史。女歌手Siouxsie Sioux 帶領著不斷更換的其它成員為樂隊贏得了在PUNK、POSTPUNK界的明星地位。Steve Severin（貝司）Marco Perroni（吉它）Sid Vicious（鼓，他就是後來大名鼎鼎的SEX Pistols的Sid Vicious）是女妖的元老成員。一段時間後Sid Vicious，Perroni離隊，The Cure靈魂Robert Smith成為了Banshees的吉它.當Smith因為The Cure的工作不得不離開時，Budgie（鼓）成為了固定成員。BANSHEES的吉它手從未穩定過,但這沒有影響他們創作出著名的音樂。

還未組樂隊之前，Siouxsie本是Sex Pistols的一名“出位”樂迷。

早在76年的幾場Sex Pistols的Live Gig上，台下的Siouxsie身穿“露乳”Bra現身，讓這位Punk妹一夜之間名傳遐邇。同年Siouxsie & The Banshees在100 Club的演出，即令他們一鳴驚人，而Siouxsie的鋒芒隨即力蓋Ari Up（The Slits）和PolyStyrene（X-Ray Spex）等Punk樂團女主唱，問鼎英國Punk壇首席天后。

隨著Siouxsie & The Banshees的首張專輯The Scream在78年發表，也正正見證了由Punk而進入Post-Punk紀元，一個充滿破格精神的後崩時代。

Siouxsie & The Banshees的音樂是狂野、叛逆、急激，而又帶點幽閉、闇黑與自省的象徵，但他們卻從不屬於“地下”。畢竟自出道起The Banshees便是屬於主流唱片公司(Polydor) 旗下樂隊，而像其處女單曲Hong Kong Garden便早有進佔英國流行榜第七位的佳績，多年來他們也有過好一些上榜大熱作，成績最佳是84年重玩The Beatles的Dear Prudence，曾打上季軍位置。

即使Siouxsie素有“Gothic教母”之稱，但現實生活中的她卻不是走上墮落敗壞之路的黑暗女王。就算是The Banshees被公認為最具毒品氣味的82年專輯Kiss In The Dream House，也只是他們在酗酒下灌錄出來而已，她亦坦言從不沾染海洛英，只對迷幻藥LSD有興趣。

而她的感情生活也相當穩定。Siouxsie跟The Banshees的低音結他手Steven Severin本是情侶，及後她遇上鼓手Budgie而展開另一段關係，二人在七年後正式結為夫婦。
