美國民謠女皇Joan Baez的魅力有多大，不是一兩代人可以說得清道得明的。因為今年已經67歲的她，從上世紀50年代末出道至今，樂壇生涯已經有50年，跨越四五個世代。而她的影響力有多大，也不是我們這代樂迷可以親身感受到的，因為她的音樂巔峰時期是在上世紀60-70年代。而且在60年代美國的反越戰以及70年代的反核冷戰文化浪潮中，Joan Baez都在其中以她的民謠和實際行動衝鋒陷陣。而她和“民謠之王”Bob Dylan之間撲朔迷離的友好關係，契合無比的音樂合作，也成為了民謠界流傳的“神話”。
以像她一樣輩分的音樂人來說，Joan Baez可算是一直很活躍，保持著3-4年推出一張專輯的速度，她對上一張錄音室專輯是在2003年發行的。在踏入樂壇50年的大日子之際，Joan Baez選擇回到她自己的原點，用她初出道之際最簡單質樸的鄉村民謠來追憶如歌歲月。在美國的鄉村音樂聖地Nashville，曾與Joan Baez合作上一張專輯製作的音樂人Steve Earle為她召集了一批優秀的樂手，共同打造她的這張個人第24張錄音室專輯。
