　　新華網曼谷8月31日電 泰國總理沙馬31日上午再次否認他將辭職。沙馬在泰國國家電視台的談話節目中說，泰國一些媒體推測他將辭職的報導是不正確的。

　　沙馬30日晚覲見泰國國王普密蓬.阿杜德，彙報了當前政局形勢。一些媒體推測沙馬在覲見國王後將辭職。

　　沙馬說，他是選舉產生的總理，將繼續履行總理職責。他說，與全國人口相比，反政府示威者只是極少數人，反政府示威者佔領總理府並不能推翻政府。

　　沙馬30日曾說，他不會因示威者的壓力而辭職。

　　應沙馬的請求，泰國國會上下兩院31日將舉行緊急聯席會議，討論當前局勢並尋找解決問題的辦法。

　　另據報導，泰國6黨執政聯盟的領導人30日晚舉行新聞發佈會，表示將繼續支持沙馬擔任總理，不會解散國會以重新進行大選。

　　2006年初，泰國國內一些反對時任總理他信的民間政治組織聯合組建人民民主聯盟(民盟)。本月26日，民盟的支持者在曼谷舉行大規模示威，指責沙馬政府是他信政權的代理，衝擊政府部門並佔領總理府。29日，泰國警方在曼谷同反政府示威者發生衝突，造成人員受傷。反政府示威活動隨之擴大到曼谷以外地區。泰國政治和社會局勢陷入嚴重混亂。



Coalition parties call emergency meeting of Parliament to end turmoil
BANGKOK, Aug 30 (TNA) - The coalition parties comprising the current government of Thailand met late Friday and have agreed to cnvene an urgent special parliamentary meeting on Sunday to grapple with the political crisis and find a solution to end the seeming impasse that has developed as a result of over three months of anti-government protests.

The six parties meeting at Chart Thai Party leader Baharn Silpa-archa's home in Bangkok was held after the police began to show muscle against the diverse range of anti-government protesters led by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD).

After the meeting, Mr. Banharn told a press briefing that the coalition parties have agreed to propose a special parliamentary meeting Sunday to seek a solution to end the stand-off between PAD supporters and the government.

Mr. Banharn, a former prime minister himself, said that Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and the House Speakers have agreed to the meeting.

He also dismissed speculation that the parties would withdraw from the coalition government, insisting that the parties still gave full support to Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej and did not put any pressure to him to resign from the post.

The PAD is holding its ground at Government House for the fifth day, with a demonstration held in parallel with the protest movement's base at Makhawan Rangsan, the nearby bridge where Rajadamnern Road crosses in front of the UN regional headquarters, demanding that Mr. Samak resign.
