Maya Barsony is not afraid. Of aerial acts in the circus. Of covering Edith Piaf. Of posing naked on her albumcover. Or posing with her pants down on the toilet (check). The daughter of Jacques Higelin (and half-sister of Arthur H) was part of the band Riches et Pauvres, did some ragga as Sister Maya and released two autoproduit-albums (interview here), but we may consider Femme d'Exterieur (out in May) as her official solo outing, so to speak. She likes Nina Hagen, Stevie Wonder and Edith Piaf, and if you add those artists you have a good idea of Maya's sound. Danceable, warm, bit cray-zee and with good lyrics. Single Le Pompe à Diesel has a great video (click), I like openingtrack Chitah and reggaefied Laisse Couler best. Let the sun shine in.
