YouTube is blocked 封鎖 inside China (see Danwei). If it were available, it would have been even more of a battlefield. In YouTube, you enter the keyword "Tibet" and you get a listing of videos with that keyword. You can sort on "relevance" which could return stories that are interesting but unrelated to the current events. Yuo can sort on "date" and you can a listing by chronological order of posting. There is a propaganda war going on YouTube because this is clearly one of the top video news sites. In a propaganda, you win the share of voice and then you can win the share of hearts and minds. Therefore, you want the videos that favor your narrative to dominate. You also want unfavorable videos to be drowned out. Therefore, you mobilize your people to post as often and as much as possible.

A case in point is this video: Free Tibet! The real truth! If you want to drown this out, you make many more posts so that it gets way down on the "date" sort. The countermeasure is to get someone else to re-post that video. Thus, this video has been posted many times already, with each post accumulating a small number of viewings. The point here is that using YouTube to track Tibet developments is low-yield, high-maintenance work.

Picking A Photo For Your Story (03/16/2008) (Discuss.com.hk) Photos from Tibet are far and few between, because there are not many photographers on location. Nevertheless, news stories have to be accompanied by photographs and you choose whichever suits your story. Here are two photographs from a stringer for Reuters. Actually, if you look at the man with the army truck in the background, you would reazlie that it is from the same photo. It is just that the photograph on the left has cropped out the crowd in the right, while the photograph on the right has cropped so that the army trucks and the crowds hold equal space. If your story is about the disturbances, you would choose the photograph on the left, and you would be in good company with Agence France Presse and CNN. If your story is about mobs running amok, you would choose the photograph on the right. So what is your pick?
