Edison Chen announces he is quitting Hong Kong showbiz.

The man behind the nude photos scandal, Edison Chen accompanied by East Asia Music boss, Peter Lam flew back to Hong Kong via Thailand at around 10am this morning. His immediate destination upon arrival was Kowloon police station.

He held a press conference at 3pm in Kowloon World Trade Centre and just like what Gillian did earlier, he only read a statement in english (chinese translation would be given to the media) and did not answer any questions.

Edison Chen Apologizes and Leaves Hong Kong Entertainment

The full statement Edison read is below:

"Today I have come back to Hong Kong to stand for you, and come by myself. I never escaped my responsibility."

"During the past few weeks, I've been with my mother, my family and loved ones who showed me sincere support and care."

"I admit that most of the photos being circulated on the internet were taken by me."

"But these photos were very private and have not been shown to people and were never intended to be shown to anyone."

"These photos were stolen from me illegally and distributed without my consent."


"There is no doubt those who obtained those photos have been uploading onto the internet with malicious and deliberately. This matter has exasperatedly extended to the society as a whole society and affected the mass. In this regard, I'm deeply saddened."

"I would like to apologize to all the ladies and to all their families for any harm or hurt that they have been feeling. I'm sorry."

"Most importantly, I would like to say sorry to all the people in Hong Kong. I give my apologies sincerely to you all, unreservedly and with my heart."

"I know young people in Hong Kong look up to many figures in our society. And, in this regard, I failed as a role model. However, I wish that this matter will teach everyone a lesson. To all the young people in our community, let this be a lesson to you all. This is not an example to be set for you."

"During my time away, I've made an important decision. I will wholeheartedly fulfil all commitments that I have to date. But, after that, I’ve decided to step away from the Hong Kong entertainment industry. I've decided to do this to give myself an opportunity to heal myself and to search my soul."

"I will be away from Hong Kong entertainment indefinitely. There is no time frame."

"I have been assisting the police since the first day the photos were published, and I will continue to assist them. After this press con, I have obligations to help them with their investigation."

"I hope all of you will accept my apology and give me a chance."

藝人陳冠希今日下午15點在香港九龍灣貿易中心六層召開記者會，就不雅照事件進行公開道歉。陳冠希表示近期網上流傳的大部分不雅照片是其所拍，但自己從未想過要將這些私人照片在網上公開，他對事件造成不了影響，向事件牽涉人及社會道歉，并宣布退出娛樂圈。

以下為陳冠希發布會上聲明(中文譯文)：

我回到香港，獨自面對這一切，我從來沒有想過逃避，我的家人始終和我在一起，他們支持和幫助我。

我承認這次事件中的大多數照片都是我拍的，但是它們都是在很隱私的情況下拍攝的，有人非法從我這里竊取了這些照片，沒有經過我的同意，并在互聯網上惡意傳播，造成惡劣的影響，我非常遺憾。

我誠摯地表達我的歉意，向所有人，向相關的女士和她們的家人，在這件事中受到的傷害。我向我的家人道歉，我向父母道歉，最重要的是，我要向全香港的人民道歉，我衷心地表達我的歉意。

我知道這個時代的年輕人崇拜偶像，但我不是一個應該被崇拜的人，我不是正面的榜樣，我希望這次的事件可以教育大家。

在完成現在的工作之后，我將退出娛樂圈，我將會在最近幾個月的時間里做一系列的慈善的工作，醫治自己的傷口和靈魂，然后我將永遠的離開。

我希望這一切能盡快的結束，謝謝警方這段時間所做的一切，我相信當務之急是盡快停止現在的一切，和它造成的一切傷害。不要進一步失控，不要讓更多的年輕人受到傷害。
