Bishop Allen is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The band's core members are Justin Rice and Christian Rudder and grew out of Rice and Rudder's long-standing friendship. Discography: "Charm School" (2003) , 12 EPs (2006 - One for each month!) and "The Broken String" (2007) which gleans the best from these EPs and adds three new tracks, the result is a kaleidoscope of Bishop Allen's sharpened and much-matured songwriting.
Personnel: Darbie Nowatka (vocals); Christian Rudder, Justin Rice (various instruments); Kristin Ferebee, Allan Vest (strings); Jon Natchez (clarinet); Kelly Pratt (trumpet); Chad Copelin (Hammond b-3 organ); Jarod Evans (bass guitar); Cully Symington (drums); Andy Herod (background vocals).
Named after a street in Cambridge, Massachusetts's Central Square but based in Brooklyn, Bishop Allen make their northeastern loyalties plain in their lyrics (anyone who lives in either city will immediately recognize the subject of "The Chinatown Bus"), but their music is a sweeping, Anglophile form of chamber pop. Collecting 10 of the best songs from an ambitious 2006 project that saw the band record and release a full EP every month, THE BROKEN STRING is imaginative, varied, and filled with smart pop hooks.

以路名Bishop Allen Drive為樂團名稱,兩人成軍時即受到朋友的支持與期望!
他們不求一夕成名或成為超級樂團,只希望能由衷寫出屬於自己的作品,
所以他們的首張專輯Charm School從寫歌創作到專輯發行長達兩年之久,顯示兩人對音樂作品的執著與熱情.
也因為這樣此專輯獲得許多正面迴響,包括Rolling Stone與NPR都給予好評.
由Justin和Christian一手包辦詞曲創作,再找來好友Bonnie Schiff-Glenn與Kate Dollenmayer配唱增加作品強度.並請Coll Anderson為歌曲加入鼓聲,然而這些都是最後才加入的"補充元素".
專輯由Champagne School獨立發行!當中的歌曲呈現出清新愉悅的感覺,讓樂迷聽來不覺嘈雜而是舒服簡單,
目前雖然無法於實體通路購買此專輯,但大家仍可到他們的官方網站訂購.
在Bishop Allen發行專輯並巡迴演出後,他們繼續創作但似乎找不出好的靈感,
就在此時他們隨意寫歌、彈奏樂器,意外發現原來的作品可以有新的生命!又能衍生出更不一樣、更特別的音樂,因而隨即錄製新的作品並突發奇想,希望每月都發行一張EP"作為紀念"
每月只於網路發行2000張EP的策略,似乎成為他們打出名號的原因之一.
此外每首歌帶來的都是最好的品質,沒有因怠惰而造成作品不佳的情況.
而EP的封面也是經過精心設計的,所以EP發行至去年底已是"搶手貨"
EP的發行告在一段落前他們發現應該請唱片公司為他們發行並宣傳專輯!
因此去年底簽入獨立廠牌Dead Oceans,並隨即錄製今年暑假將發行的新專輯
Bishop Allen & The Broken String將會是他們的第一張錄音室作品!
在期待之餘先來回顧他們的EP歌曲,目前官方提供四首代表作品免費下載!
這些都是EP發行後受到好評的創作,"Click Click Click Click"以吉他作為主軸.
順勢帶出歌曲給人輕快愉悅的感覺,簡單好記的歌詞讓樂迷能朗朗上口.

"Butterfly Nets"則充滿夏夜的甜蜜,舒服的女聲依然配上簡單的樂器聲.
造出這首舒服溫馨的"夏日主題曲","Like Castanets"也富有相同感覺.
但男聲的夏日風情卻像清涼的海風,陣陣吹來讓人不覺夏季的溼溽炙熱
從這幾首歌可以發現他們的創作,已不再是簡單卻略顯空洞的音樂.
反而是富於內容且忠於自己的作品,難怪已有樂迷期待他們的最新專輯.
而官方也提早讓樂迷們預購新作!
