(Saitama) The Omiya Police Department arrested a 19 year-old female college student earlier today on a suspicion of fraud, after failing to send tickets to an AKB48 handshake event after payments were made.

The scam started in December, when the female student replied to an internet post of a 18-years old male high school student who was searching to buy tickets for the AKB48 handshake event. She replied to his post and sold three tickets to the hand-shake event and made him deposit 8000 yen (approximately 97.00 USD) directly into her bank account. Soon after, the male high school student never received the tickets and lost all contact with the seller, he later reported the incident to the police. The female college student who is being charged for fraud is admitting her guilt and stated, “I wanted some money to go out and play. I actually do have one ticket. I’ve also used the same scheme previously and took money from several other people.”
