AKB48's new single sold over 655,000 copies on the release day

Mega group AKB48 released their 20th single “Sakura no Ki ni Naoru” on February 16th, and the single has reached number one by selling 655,344 copies on the release day!
Selling over 655,000 copies on the first day exceeds the first day sales of their eventual million plus hit single “Beginner” (released on October 27th 2010) which sold 568,095 copies on its release day.
It will top the next Oricon weekly chart for sure as AKB48 is well on their way for their next million sale single.
Perfume beats out Morning Musume for 4th consecutive #1 DVD

According to Oricon’s latest DVD ranking, electro-pop trio Perfume has topped the charts for the fourth consecutive time!
Perfume released their latest live DVD, “Kessei 10 Juunen Major Debut 5 Juunen Kinen! Perfume LIVE @ Tokyo Dome ‘12345678910′,” on February 9th and have already sold about 70,000 copies, beating Morning Musume’s previous record of three consecutive #1 releases.
Because their previous releases have all topped the DVD charts, Perfume now has a total of four consecutive #1 DVDs – the first time a female group has achieved this since
SPEED topped the charts with “SPEED FINAL DOME TOUR－REAL LIFE－” eleven years ago.
Congratulations to Perfume on their achievement!
