Spin (p.90) - "From orchestral psychedelic pop and blue-eyed soul to falsetto disco and high-'80s synth confection, the brothers Gibb did it all..."

Mythology contains four discs housed in a 5 3/4" X 7 5/8" X 7/16" box, with each disc spotlighting a different Gibb brother, including one disc dedicated to Andy. The songs were chosen by Barry, Robin, Maurice's widow Yvonne (and their children Adam and Samantha), and Andy's daughter Peta.

Mythology also features a collection of family photos, many never-before published, along with tributes from artists such as George Martin, Brian Wilson, Elton John, Graham Nash, and the band's longtime manager Robert Stigwood. Spanning the Bee Gees' five-decade career, the set's 81 tracks touch on several of the group's best-known hits.

The final disc spotlights Andy Gibb, who worked with his brothers throughout his career, before his death in 1988 at the age of 30. Notably, Andy's first 3 singles all went to #1 in the U.S., a feat that had never been accomplished before. Mythology also marks the debut of "Arrow Through The Heart," a song Andy recorded shortly before his death that was intended for a comeback album.

Released in 2010 to commemorate 50 years of the Bee Gees-a date picked from their formation, not from when they started to hit the charts-the four-disc box set celebrates the legacy of the Brothers Gibb, devoting a disc each to songs sung by a particular sibling. This includes their brother Andy, who never was a Bee Gee but certainly was closely tied to his older brothers who did write several of his big hits including "Shadow Dancing," "I Just Want To Be Yoru Everything," "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water," "An Everlasting Love" and "(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away," songs that appear on the fourth disc of Mythology, fitting neatly alongside the Bee Gees tunes on the first three discs. Each of the songs were chosen by a Gibb - Barry and Robin picked their respective discs, Maurice's widow chose his, Andy's daughter Peta curated his disc - and they never failed to include the group's biggest hits, along with well-chosen selections scattered throughout their catalog. A few hits may be absent - "Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)" and "Lonely Days" are notably missing - but that isn't as problematic as the sequencing skipping through the decades on each disc, a tactic designed to increase appreciation for the different eras but winds up preventing any momentum from catching hold. Nevertheless, the conceit of devoting a disc to each brother pays off splendidly, increasing appreciation for what each Gibb accomplished, and that, combined with the great majority of the Bee Gees' signature hits, makes Mythology a fitting anniversary celebration. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

The package contains four discs, each spotlighting a different Gibb brother, including one dedicated to Andy. The songs were hand picked by Barry, Robin and Maurice's widow Yvonne (with a helping hand from their children Adam and Samantha), along with Andy's daughter Peta. With a 60 page booklet of personal photographs and liner notes penned by the band themselves, this 81 track decade spanning collection is the ultimate collectors item and contains two previously unreleased Maurice Gibb tracks and one previously unreleased Andy Gibb recording.
