SPECIAL: GERMANY V ENGLAND PREVIEW!

神奇章鱼预测英格兰队有不祥之兆

The Germans will be without striker CACAU who picked up an injury in training but have a clear squad otherwise. England have all 23 players back to select from for Fabio Capello. No one hot injured last game, but both LEDLEY KING & JAMIE CARRAGHER are back after picking up knocks earlier in the tournament. With the Germans lacking in match confidence maybe slightly more than England, and with their young and naive squad, I'm backing an English victory to make up for lost times! Go'on 3 LIONS!

TOMORROW: FIFA World Cup 2010: KNOCKOUT STAGE DAY 2 REVIEW!

Asamoah Gyan celebrates his fantastic goal that knocked out the USA but most importantly it means that we have an African nation in the last eight of the 2010 World Cup!

It's official. Africa will be represented in the last eight of the FIFA World Cup for only the 3rd time ever. Also, the USA are OUT!! I'll expect criticism from this, and bring it on. But shame - they're gone! I'm happy! They're not a footballing nation. They got a lucky goal against England and parked a bus in front of their goal for the remainder of the time. They were completely fucked at half time against Slovenia and they needed a last minute goal to beat Algeria who maybe could've won themselves. I know you guys own the World or whatever, but football is on a planet of its own and you losers are allowed no where near it, kapiche? In England, you'd be called 'bottlers'. The French would call you 'merde'.I'm just gonna call you shit, cocky fools. Straight up. When the hell in the World of football did a win against Algeria mean enough optimism and showing-off to think that you could actually go on and win the whole tournament? Infact, what have you ever done for the game before this? Apart from fucking up even further the careers of legends, such as Pele, David Beckham and now probably Thierry Henry? This sport isn't for you. Just give us a shout if you ever decide to host a baseball or basketball World Cup. Probably get a whoopin' in those sports too at this rate! That's what you get. Now carry on with your usual business of screwing up the universe! Cocky Bastards.
Rant over! Let's screw those fools and congratulate Ghana for a fantastic victory, that their team ethic and courage deserved. You'll meet much harder and stronger opposition, but for now, kudos!
Earlier in the day, Uruguay beat South Korea 2-1 in an edgey affair which saw them into the last 8. They deserved it on balance, but the Koreans die hard. Atleast the one on South anyway! Both these results mean that today's victors will play each other in the Quarter Finals. That's right folks, it's Uruguay v Ghana on Friday! Note it down now.

LAST 16: MATCH 1.

URUGUAY 2-1 SOUTH KOREA (URUGUAY THROUGH TO QF, SK ELIMINATED!)

Striker LUIS SUAREZ is the hero of the day as his 2 goals secured a last 8 berth for 2 time winners Uruguay. In a less than impressive display, the South Americans had to do their fair share of defending, but in the end it was S.Korea's loose defence and Uruaguay's deadly finishing that did the job. The first goal came as early as the 8th minute. DIEGO FORLAN'S weak cross on goal was missed by all including the SK goalie and Suarez was there to tap in his first from a tight angle. Great finish, but from this point on it was SK who would dominate attackingly but they'd rue their missed chances. PARK-CHU YOUNG of Monaco was guilty for missing 3 chances that could've drawn his team level. His first effort was a terrific free-kick which smashed the post, wwhile he also had a couple shots saved by Uruguay goalie Muslera, before smashing over the bar inside the box. SK's luck finally changed in the 68th minute when LEE CHU-YOUNG brought his team level. He headed home after getting in the way of a clearance after a freekick - Uruguay's 1st goal conceded in the World Cup. It wasn't to last long though. This goal allowed Uruguay to open up finally and go forward, and with just 10 mins to go, Suarez was the hero again. This time, he picked up a ball and tuned his defender before angling himself correctly and curling a terrific effort into the right hand corner off the post. World class finish! SK had another chance to equalise at the death but they have a long way to go before they can match this class!

苏亚雷斯冲进替补席Luis Suarex celebrates scoring his amazing winner in a 2-1 win over South Korea, sending them to the last eight.

USA 1-2 GHANA AET (USA ELIMINATED, GHANA INTO QF'S!)

Kevin Prince Boateng celebrates his lovely opener with his local fans, a goal celebrated by the footballing world, everone other than the USA!

Gyan Asamoah's vicious volley here, which made it 2-1 to Ghana in extra time.

加納隊2-1淘汰美國隊,成功挺進八強的戰役中,比賽最後時刻美國隊門將霍華德沖入禁區參與進攻,雙方門將在加納隊大門前展開了激烈的對抗。

The game of the day, and oh look, I redicted coorectly again. Infact I was spot on. As soon as the USA would qualify, It'd be there share cockyness as well as lack of quality that would cause them problems in the last 16. They're still not a huge footballing nation, whatever anyone says. Ghana's first came courtesy of man-of-the-match KEVIN PRINCE BOATENG who used his strength, his pace and decent shooting all evening. He stole the ball off of Clark before advancing forward and driving a low left footed grass cutter past Howard. Clark was subbed shortly afterwards, his confidence taking a huge blow. JAY DeMERIT was quiet all afternoon and had a poor game at the back, almost letting Ghana make it 2-0, but it stayed as 1 at the break. Feilhaber came on in the second half and almost had instant success, but Kingson was great in goal all day. Then came the USA's lifeline. Dempsey was fouled in the area, and the praying LANDON DONOVAN hit a nice pen. off the post. It was pretty end-to-end after this point, the game being worn out till the end, which meant extra time after a draw in normal time. It was Ghana's turn to shine and just 3 mins in, ASAMOAH GYAN who had a typically quiet game came to life and flashed a shot past Howard after great strength, bringing down a long ball. 'Goal of the Day' for sure, just because of the quality and relief, both. Ghana had to wtach out the last few mins of extra time which they did, defending with their hearts. The awesome ANDRE AYEW will miss the Uruguay QF after being booked in the only dark-spot on an otherwise great day. USA...fly home safe! hahah.
