多梅內克的眼神
France Coach Raymond Domenech looks to the Heavens for support after a dismal day at the office.

The 2010 FIFA World Cup is finally starting to settle down, and in the most part, normalcy is resuming. Today's 3 games of high drama produced 10 goals, ANOTHER Red Card, a penalty and enhanced our ideas as to who we'll see in the last 16 and most importantly, who we'll be saying 'ciao' to soonest! Argentina cruised to an emphatic and convincing victory over South Korea - probably their toughest opponents in the group - crushing them 4-1. Nigeria slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Greece after taking the lead and then falling apart due to a stupid and immature 7th Red Card of the tournament. And finally, in a must win game, France cocked-up big-time by losing out 2-0 to Mexico. With their chances of qualifying out of their hands, Domenech's team selection came under scrutiny!

Probably, along with Germany, the finest all-round team performance of the tournament so far. Maradona's side looked dominant from the start and apart from a tricky moment at the end of the 1st half, they OWNED and completely deserved to win by this scoreline. This win sees the South Americans qualifying chances all but confirmed, and it will be assured by the time they play Greece next week. This team are fast looking like World beaters and are the only ones to truely convince so far. JONAS GUTIERREZ & GABRIEL HEINZE were doing all the early running from the flanks and looked awesome, and only 16 minutes in, their dominance paid off as the ever-awesome LIONEL MESSI floated in a free-kick which bounced in off striker PARK CHU-YOUNG to set the overall tone of the day. Argentina were devestating, South Korea were unlucky at times. The Asians had their moments of creativity but it was largely all-out Argentinian attacks and the second goal was coming after a spell of decent chances in the game. GONZALO HIGUAIN'S marvellous individual performance started with a header after nice team work via Carlos Tevez & Maxi. A rout seemed on the cards, and it was eventually the case, but not before some half-time annoyance for the dominant team. The shaky-looking MARTIN DEMICHELIS of Bayern Munich fluffed a simple backpass to his goalie to allow in LEE CHUNG-YONG to tap in right before the whistle. Ouch. If there were any questionable issues for Argentina, the defence was one of them. With their fullbacks enjoying attacking more than defending, the holes that are left in defence are unhealthy, and you've jus gotta wonder if the likes of Samuel, Demichelis and Burdisso will be good enough against better teams.
The Second-half began again with Argentinian dominance, and with most of the attackers having decent opportuinities to finish off S.K., they had a scare when S.K. nearly took the lead - again after slack defending. YEOM KI-HYUN missed while being one-on-one with the goalie at 2-1, which could'a changed things. Anyway, it woke up Argentina, and soon enough it was 3-1 and deserved. Messi's great footwork brough him 2 shots on goal, the second of which hit the post and fell right at the feet of Higuain to tap in his second. Game over. That's how deadly these contenders are. Take your chances while you can, or you're dead! To rub salt in the wounds, my 'Goal of the Day' will show you Higuain's hatrick goal, where he headed in after a great one-two between Messi and especially sub SERGIO AGUERO. What a feast. It was the performance of champions. A quick +ve shout out to Javier Mascherano who captained and lead by example, but ANGEL DI MARIA was SHIT yet again. I guess all teams have their weakest links, but how could we complain today? A thought for Maradona next time...Aguero for Di Maria, and tighten up that defence!

GREECE 2-1 NIGERIA

裁判毫不手軟
The turning-point of the game as Nigeria throw away a game they were in control of after Sani Kaita's needless sending-off.

The Greeks came from behind today to secure a 2-1 win which all but ends Nigeria's hopes of qualifying but makes their own very credible indeed. On paper, this was the boring game of the day but when it got started, it was as interesting and as intense as any of the 3 today. Finally we're starting to get quality! Both teams lost their opening games which made today's uber important for them both. The earlier stages remained pretty balanced with GEORGIOS KARAGOUNIS leading his Greek team well with decent play from himself and his midfield partners who made it tight. Nigeria were doing okay despite Greek pressure and took the lead on 16 mins when KALU UCHE'S freekick was bent in and bounced all the way in without touching anyone. This is when the passionately followed Nigerians began to dominate, but that feeling wasn't to last long. Stupidly, they fell a man short less than 20 minutes later when SANI KAITA needlessly kicked out at Torosidis on the touchline and was shown a straight red. His despair was evident as he rolled off the pitch crying. Greece naturally took advantage of their one extra man and coach Rehhaggel even sent on Georgios Samaras to play more attackingly. Just before half-time Greece were finally level when DIMITRIOS SALPINGIDIS'S shot deflected into the roof of the net off Haruna, for Greece's 1st ever goal in the World Cup finals.
Greece were the better side in the second half and had ample opportunities to score through Gekas, Karagounis et al, and after Nigeria missed a great chance to score on the counter, VASILEOS TOROSIDIS, who was involved in the sending-off, tapped into an empty net after last weeks hero Enyeama parried a shot into his path. The Greek owned the rest of the game and celebrated their first ever World Cup win at the final-whistle like an ancient glory-day victory, while Nigeria, who are now basically out, were left in ruins as to what could have been. What a game!

FRANCE 0-2 MEXICO

曼聯新前鋒 Javier Hernandez celebrates getting Mexico's first goal, and probably ending France's tournament early.

What a disappointment YET again. The French had to win this game, as did their opponents to strengthen their claims of staying alive, and RAYMOND-f*ckwit-DOMENECH yet again proved how backwards the standards of French football have dropped under his management. The French have probably lost their chance to qualify and Dom's will leave a team quite similar to how Gordon Brown left the UK...a pointless mess leaving his successor with a huge-ass job on his hands. Make no mistakes, Mexico simply outclassed France on this occasion and from back to front, completely deserved this win. The early stages showed a glimpse of what was to come as 'El Tri's striking duo CARLOS VELA (Arsenal) & GIOVANI DOS SANTOS (!?) were running the French defence ragged, with Eric Abidal in particular having yet another SHIT game. What is this guy doing on the pitch!? France barely had a chance as the first half drew to a close. The much-talked-about FRANCK RIBERY also failed to leave his mark on the game. He seemed weak and unmotivated, easy to get off the ball which Mexico exploited. Typical of a Domenchian side. Some great names and no end product. Wth. Nicolas Anelka was also severly subdued but he always is for France. He hasn't scored for them since November. Most would've wanted THIERRY HENRY to replace him but everyone bar Domenech was left disappointed as Gignac was the replacer. I feel sorry for how badly the French coach will get slaughtered after this. The Second-half was mainly French endeavour without result and Mexican panache. Malouda (who had a punch-up with Doms!) forced Perez into a great save but it was Man Utd new boy JAVIER HERNANDEZ who broke a poorly offside trap (Abidal's fault again), walked round the goalie and tapped in. VUVUZELA'S DIDN'T greet the goal, SONGS DID! FUCK YES!! It was a Mexican game after this because the French soul was killed. You would think that they'd try shooting but that didn't even happen right. Finally, the coup de grace came on 80 mins after the worst centre-back in history, ERIC ABIDAL (note his name, and he plas for FC Barcelona!) brought down the amazingly quick PABLO BARRERA for the easiest penalty of the tournament. Old-head CUAUHTEMOC BLANCO took a long-ass run up for an old man of 37, but he rolled it in nicely. 2-0. Game-over. Mexico always go through and will do again like I said. I don't think my other prediction of France will work out now, so Au revoir France, and most of all, finally...FUCK OFF DOMENECH!!!
