It's the new and improved Sophie Ellis Bextor

British singer/songwriter/model Sophie Ellis-Bextor is getting ready to release her fourth studio album "Straight to the Heart" this summer! After the release of the album she plans on releasing a hits compilation then possibly heading in a new musical direction. Here we have the official first single titled "Bittersweet" co-written by Freemasons and Hannah Robinson. It's a great electric dance pop track set for digital release on May 2nd (UK)! The Freemasons remix premiered on radio earlier this month, but now it’s time for the original version of ‘Bittersweet’, the new single from Sophie Ellis Bextor. Fans of Kylie’s ‘The One’ will probably appreciate this sleek slice of electropop.

Sophie Ellis Bextor has a sparkling new album in the works and we are now very proud to reveal the name of the first single!
‘Bittersweet’ will be the first release taken from Sophie’s new album – this April 2010! Written by the super-talented Freemasons, Biff and Hannah Robinson, the Freemasons have also worked their magic on producing the single.
It’s a good introduction to the fourth album because, as with the majority of the record, it’s a song you can dance to. The new tracks feature collaborations with Calvin Harris, Metronomy, Cathy Dennis, Richard X and Ed Harcourt.

Sophie Ellis Bextor’s new single ‘Bittersweet‘ premiered on Gaydar Radio last night, and it’s an even bigger rave tune than ‘Heartbreak (Make Me A Dancer)‘. We’re not quite sure of this is the original or the Freemasons remix, but then again they produced the original track, so it can’t be radically different.

This is the solo debut by British dance-pop diva Sophie Ellis Bextor, featuring the singles "Take Me Home" and "Murder on the Dancefloor."

The banal title fronts a disappointing debut from Sophie Ellis-Bextor, fusing Human League synth with beats and cinematic strings ("Take Me Home"/"Murder on the Dancefloor"). Nothing, though, really comes close to matching the shimmering highlight, "Murder on the Dancefloor," which guests bass genius Guy Pratt. "Final Move" is a more subdued version with similar kaleidoscope synth. Another notable is Ellis-Bextor's English accent, particularly on "By Chance." ~ Kelvin Hayes
