Emmon is the electro project of Emma Nylen, former singer of the popular Swedish band Paris . Closet Wanderings is the second album after the release of The Art & The Evil two years ago. With that album various prizes were won and the singles Rock D’Amour and Wake Up Time brought Emmon in Scandinavia on MTV. Closet Wanderings continues this success with well produced electropop. Perhaps a bit to slick for those who like their electro and synthpop dark but it is of good quality what Emmon treats us on with songs like ‘Secrets & Lies’, ‘Urban Diseases’, ‘Lips on Fire’ and ‘Scream’. In the electropop of Emmon 80’s synthpop references as well as italo influences and modern electroclash sequences can be heard. Listen for instance to the typical 80’s synthesizer sounds in a song like ‘Stray Dogs’. But it goes beyond that since also the acoustic aspects are better mixed which ensures a richer sound than before. ‘Feel the Music’ perfectly illustrates this. Very much enjoyable is also the instrumental track ‘Belarussian Night’. This is an album with excellent song and intelligent use of sounds packed into a great production. Fans of Goldfrapp and Ladytron should definitely give the music of Emmon a try.
