Grammy singer Marsha Wattanapanich stands up for the girls in a caustic挖苦 song from her latest album, Let's have fun...tonight. The song is called Phuu Chai Huay Huay (ผู้ชายห่วยๆ), and is doing well, judging by the amount of airtime it is getting.
The message? No women in her right mind would regret the loss of a man who plays around and ultimately leaves her for someone else. 'You think I am heartbroken? Forget about it!'
'Phuu Chai Huay' loosely translates as Lousy male. Marsha (เจ๊ช่า” มาช่า วัฒนพานิช) says feedback from women and kateuy alike has been positive, as many girls out there relate to the song. In an age when women can look after themselves and no longer need man as a financial crutch, fewer are willing to tolerate unfaithful behaviour, she says - which is all for the good.
Marsha, who has had her share of relationship troubles, denies the song was aimed at anyone in particular. The song's hard-hitting lyrics chime well with the concept of the album, she says, which is daring and sexy.
'If he's not faithful, then just quit with him. If you lose him, you won't feel a thing. You can't trust him. Just keep him aside as a memory. He's just one worthless male. There are many men around these days like that.
'These days, women don't care for such men. With this song I would like to side with women. I would like them to be tough and strong. You don't have to care about someone who is not faithful.'
