The Netherlands are through to the final of the 2010 FIFA World Cup! Congrats to the Oranje! They played out a nervy and pulsating 3-2 victory against Uruguay in Cape Town last night and will now face the winners of tomorrow's semi of Spain v Germany. The Netherlands were again, no where near their brand of 'total-football' - but ask a Dutchman if he cares! Most other nations would be dying to be in their position right now, Brazil, Argentina, any beuatiful playing nation, you name 'em! Bert van Marwijk has brought something special to this team - gile and determination, vicory through harmony. Classy and cleverness and technique abandoned for results and a real shot at the trophy - I want him to coach my nation next time round! Holland will probably be underdogs against either or Spain or Germany in the final, but on their day they can beat anyone in the world. Fact. The match started off cagey, and after Netherlands finally found their feet, they scored first. GIOVANNI van BRONCKHORST unleashed a vicious 40 yard effort from a tight-angle into the top corner. It was one of the goals of the tournament, as were a few others, so hit up the highlights below if you haven't already seen what went down. The Oranje rightly celebrated. Best strike of the Jabulani so far - from a retiring yet classy left-back. Holland didn't add to their advantage and just minutes before half time after good build up play, DIEGO FORLAN equalised for Uruguay with a shit that matches Gio's. He swung on his left foot and smashed a curler in past a wobbly Stekeleburg. The Jab' swivelled. Goalie's fault. The second half was cagier than the first. On 60 mins, Holland regained the lead after WESLEY SNEIJDER shot in off Robin van Persie, with the goal being credited to the former. RvP was apparently offside, but with all the other blatent cheating thats gone on so far, he was onside by a country mile! Just 3 mins later, Kuyt set up ARJEN ROBBEN - a menace again all game, to head in a classy third. We all have mixed views about Robben. Classy Winger or Cheating Diver? You decide. On his dat he's a match-winner. Fact. And he decided this semi. His pace at times was again too much for S.American opposition, and the quality of his header from the cross deserved to win any game. M.PEREIRA pulled one back for Uruguay in stoppage time which took forever to finish, making it a tense finale. Holland were all about defending after the 87th minute - fair enough. Robben could'a finished the game off before then however. KHALID BOULAHROUZ was solid for the Dutch - its a one-off, he's usually pretty lame. MARK van BOMMEL is amongst the worst footballers in this tournament. Cheat. Holland have an array of stars however, and should be good. Caceres in defence stood out for Uruguay as well as obviously, Forlan. Theres only so much 2 can do in a team though, the rest looked dead out. SUAREZ was definitely missed. But they would'nt be here without him, literally. So it's a 3rd place play-off for Uruguay who can hang out in SA until Saturday atleast. They'll play the losers of tomorrow's semi. Right now though, it's time to paint this site ORANJE!! CONGRATULATIONS NETHERLANDS!! Go'on van Persie and co.!!
